    Building the Business Case

    • Sustainability Management Ability Test (SMAT): An educational and testing system that measures sustainability management ability among all stakeholders and helps the public learn about managing for sustainability.
    • Raising the eco-friendliness of the national MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) industry events.

  • Action2020-related Activities

    National Action2020 Plan

    • Developing a Sustainable Korea 2020 initiative, which is focused on adapting the Action2020 to the Korean context. The first introduction to the plan was in March 2014 and a launch of Action2020 and Action2020 related projects will take place later in 2014.
    • Launching an Action2020 publication in Korean.

    Climate Change

    • Policy development: Providing a platform for member companies to interact in developing sustainability policies, especially in the fields of energy, climate change and GHG emissions.
    • Government Engagement and External Collaboration
    • Provides business input to the government regarding g sustainability policy issues.
    • Convenes high-level dialogues with the government, the National Assembly and other major stakeholders.
    • Green Growth Business Dialogue: Provides an official channel for consultation between the Presidential Committee on Green Growth and the business sector
    • Partnering with the Ministry of Environment according to the Memorandum of Understanding for a Sustainable Tourism.

    Sustainable Lifestyles

    • According to the KBCSD Memorandum of Understanding for Sustainable Tourism, KBCSD shall protect and manage places where eco-security values and preservation of environment are of great worth to the business sector; suggest improving standards for sustainable tourism vitalization and propose policies; and consider socially vulnerable people such as low-income families, and build a sustainable tourism model contributing to the development of regional communities.
    • Spreading the concept of green management after the recognition received through an EarthCheck Certification award.
    • Organising a public-private sustainable tourism forum.
    • Spearheading collaboration between the business sector and the government to nurture sustainable-tourism, an eco-friendly approach that promotes the regional economy and does not harm the natural environment.
